www.hopeinfo.co.uk is Best Christian Social Action Website!
The 2008 Christian Blog and Web Awards has recognised the Christian Enquiry Agency's contribution to Hope 2008 with an award for "the public face of hope", www.hopeinfo.co.uk. The site won in the Best Social Action Website category in the national awards, which saw hundreds of entries from across the country.
Editor of the site and director of CEA, Gareth Squire, says,
"This is a welcome encouragement and an award for the whole of Hope 2008, not just this agency. We have tried through the website to engage the public nationally in conversation on the theme of hope, and to support the local church in its work.
"Hope'08 is a grass roots initiative, not a top-heavy campaign. The real heroes of hope are Christians working locally to serve their communities, demonstrating the love of God. CEA is delighted to provide this resource for anyone who wants to know about the faith that motivates that loving service and provides each and every enquirer with information, advice, encouragement, and practical help to take steps of faith - all free of charge."
David Coleman, Church Army's Communications Manager who has provided creative support to the films and web site content adds,
"We set out to make a site that would focus on those outside the reach of church, and it is fitting that this award is in the category 'best social action website' as it recognises and rewards that vision. I hope this will result in many more churches engaging with the site in their outreach programmes."
The Christian Enquiry Agency wants to thank the many people who have contributed to the project. It would be impossible to name them all, but particular thanks go to:
- Deo Gloria Trust - for their gift of faith which kickstarted the whole project and for their dedicated support responding to the Hope'08 enquiries;
- Church Army - main partner in the project - for their financial support for the films, for their creativity and time, and for their partnership in the Gospel;
- The Christian Evidence Society for their gifts towards two of the films on the website;
- Reaching the Unchurched Network for their partnership on iMatter and for contributing four films towards the site;
- The two film companies concerned: Watering Can Media and Humanity Productions;
- Trihedra - for their patience and skill as they taught us about websites and for going the extra mile;
- The Hope 2008 founders, leadership team and very hard-working office staff!
